About me
Kearston Dillard-Scott, a native of Suffolk, VA, has been studying and practicing the art of lighting for the last 23 years. She graduated in 2003 from Randolph (Macon-Woman's) College with a B.A. in Theatre, subsequentally resulting in spending the next 13 years in the Hampton Roads Virginia area, primarily with the Virginia Opera in Norfolk as their Lighting Supervisor, assisting in the design implementation of lighting and projections. She has also worked on various film projects in the Hampton Roads area to include Art Direction and Stunt Coordinator. As a lighting designer, she has designed and assisted designed for many local and regional theatre and dance companies to include the Atlanta Ballet. She prides herself in being a master lighting programmer, with experience in lighting programming on various consoles. She has worked as a Lighting Director and Assistant Lighting Designer with a number of Broadway-based designers to include Bradley King and Robert Wierzel. In 2016, she transitioned to Alexandria, VA and began working for Barbizon Lighting in 2017 as a sales representative. She was promoted to Outside Sales in April of 2018 and has dedicated herself not only educating individuals in various aspects of lighting, but also successfully designed and implemented theatre project designs for companies such as the Discovery Theatre (Smithsonian) and the Dance Institute of Washington in Washington, DC. Through Barbizon, she has had the opportunity to present and participate a number of workshops in relation to the education of youth for various regional and national tradeshows to include the ETC Fred Foster Mentorship Program, SETC, USITT, Virginia Theatre Association, Virginia Theatre Festival, and Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Besides being a wife and a mother, she enjoys video games and doing art with her large number of Sharpie markers.
