About me
Sven designs projections and imagery for immersive storytelling events in theater, opera, dance, musicals, and beyond. In the last two decades his collaborations and designs with leading creatives has seen on four continents Notable projection design works include Thoughts of a Colored Man (Broadway), Parade (Broadway), and Once Upon A One More Time (Broadway). He also provided creative direction for NHWK4220 at New York's Artechouse. His design for Disney's Newsies was nominated for a Tony Award in 2012, followed by Drama Desk Awards nominations for Julie Taymor's Midsummer in 2014 and Thoughts Of A Colored Man in 2021.
Sven is always looking to explore novel ways to tell stories using media and create cohesive visual environments to engage live audiences fully. For the last ten years, Sven has worked at public research universities (UT Austin, ASU) to help educate the next generation of designers, artists, and thought leaders. His role as a professor of practice in immersive and entertainment design at ASU and a faculty member at Mesa's innovative multidisciplinary mix center is not just a job but a passion. Sven's commitment to design is unwavering, reflecting his deep passion and dedication. Outside of his professional life, Sven is also a keen gardener and landscaper.
