About me
At the time, we rarely realize the significance of the pivotal moments in our lives.
Such a moment came to Scott De Vos in 1971, while attending college in Denver Colorado, when he was given the opportunity to see a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert for free–all he had to do was help them load in their gear. He didn’t know it then, but that night would lead to a lifetime in live music production. Soon after, he was working with a local sound company doing concerts for artists that came through the area, becoming known as a sound engineer and lighting designer. By 1973 he was managing the stage and production for a venue featuring artists such as Kenny Rogers, Ray Charles, BB King, Steve Martin and Willie Nelson. Life on the road began when he toured the country with a well-known jazz artist. Scott would remain on the road for many years, building outdoor stages and roofs with TFA (Tom Field and Associates) and Mike Brown, doing stadium events with Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Later he joined Obie’s Lighting working with Fleetwood Mac, Willie Nelson and the Allman Brothers.
It was on the road that Scott would meet his wife, Julie, and they married in 1980. As they started their family in Colorado, Scott took a job at Feyline Concerts, where his first assignment was to design and build a roof for the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater. Scott would go on to manage concerts at Red Rocks while also doing stadium concerts with the Stones, the Who, Grateful Dead, Simon & Garfunkel, and every show that came through Denver at McNichols Arena from 1981–84. Seeking new challenges and opportunities for growth, Scott shifted his focus to developing his business management skills while working with an award-winning entrepreneur. In 1987 Scott returned to Obie’s moving to Los Angeles, as an account executive and eventually becoming Vice President and General Manager. In 1993, Scott relocated to Nashville and opened the Obie’s Nashville office.
In 1996, Scott and Julie established their own company, De Lux Productions. The two
gained a reputation for maintaining long-term relationships with esteemed clients in the
entertainment and corporate business world. They produced events for such notable
clients as Country Radio Seminar, the Gospel Music Association, Salem Media Group,
the Dove Awards, Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine Group and Vanderbilt University.
As they ease toward retirement, Scott and Julie live and ride in the mountains of East
Tennessee with their dogs, cat and horses. The icing on the cake is the time they spend
with their two sons and their families which include three beautiful grandchildren.
