Laura Frank has worked in entertainment technology for over 30 years. Starting her career as a moving light technician in New York City, she established herself as a top lighting programmer with projects spanning rock tours with David Bowie, to Broadway shows like
Spamalot and television events like the Concert for NY. She built her career in venues like Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall.
Laura made the shift to video screen content and control systems in the early 2000s. She spent a decade of refining a media delivery workflow, and established herself as a Screens Producer leading a highly regarded Media Operations team for prominent events around the world. Her shows included the MTV Video Music Awards, The Game Awards, the Turner Upfront and the CMA Music Awards. She has worked on installations for major brands like Nike and the upcoming PDX Next project that opens August 2024. In 2024, she founded Integration Technology Advisors.
With the founding of Luminous FX in New York in 2000, Laura started a career path that led to the publication of her textbook with Routledge,
Screens Producing & Media Operations: Advanced Practice for Media Server and Video Content Preparation. This work describes best practices for a Content Delivery Specification for the Multi-Screen live scenic environment. Her second textbook,
Real-Time Video Content for Virtual Production, Mixed Reality and Live Entertainment: A Learning Roadmap for An Evolving Practice was released in December of 2022. This work looks at the early days of performance XR and Live Entertainment’s intersection with Virtual Production.
Laura is the Executive Director of
frame:work, a non-profit for the creative video technology community as well as a 25 year member of IATSE, Local ONE in NYC.
