Jeff Ravitz is a Primetime Emmy®-winning lighting designer, lecturer, and writer specializing in live entertainment being captured for multi-camera television, as well as top-tier concert tours and specialty installations. He co-authored the book Lighting for Televised Live Events, in which he demystifies the art and science of television lighting design and techniques. Ravitz has designed TV specials of all kinds, concert shoots, comedy specials, the annual Writers Guild Awards, and televised operas for PBS. He is the broadcast lighting advisor for the Coachella festival. Film audiences have seen Ravitz’s work in specialty scenes in movies such as The Manchurian Candidate, Jem and the Holograms, and Neil Young’s Heart of Gold. His concert credits include world tours for Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan, John Mellencamp, Cher, Styx, and Ringo Starr.
Ravitz has consulted on permanent lighting systems for venues such as LA’s Microsoft Theatre, as well as for TV newsrooms, theme park attractions, and retail establishments. As a lecturer, Ravitz has done presentations and master classes around the globe. Ravitz was named a Parnelli Lighting Designer of the Year. His design firm, Intensity Advisors, is based in Los Angeles.
