 There are few industries generative AI tools haven't touched in the past year. From generating artwork to synthesizing data in spreadsheets and knowledge stores, generative AI has touched a vast array of industries and raised many questions along the way. Matthew Ragan from SudoMagic will share some of their insights and considerations about what working with AI systems means, how to approach them with both skepticism and optimism, and how you can take a considered approach to using generative AI in your work.

Visionary artists and collaborators Aaron Santiago and Michaela Ternasky-Holland push the boundaries of what is possible at the edge of technology and experience. Their works, both independently and together, leverage generative AI, motion capture, virtual reality, 360 cinematography, projection mapping, volumetrics and a host of other tools to expand human perspectives across lines of culture, ability and lived experience. In this session, they join forces to lead us on a deep dive into what's possible in this emerging field using their own award-winning creative works as a lens.

From the long-dead performers to alive-but-not-willing-to-tour pop legends and the Animals of the Savannah, hologram performances have become omnipresent. It’s not the Star Wars level of holographic technology, but we’re getting there. One 2Pac projection at a time. 
 
In this session, we explore how artists and brands can leverage this cinematic and filmed technique to amaze fans and create a high level of audience engagement. Attendees will learn about the creative and practical challenges posed by different physical limitations as well as the crucial role of a cross-functional team collaboration in crafting extraordinary visual experiences. We’ll walk through a real-world application, the Nat Geo launch of the TV series Queens where hologram technology was used to create the illusion that exotic animals where walking the runway with fashion models.

The public entrance lobby of the new Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) cancer research facility in Cambridge, MA was designed by Rockwell Group and serves as a public art installation as well as the entrance to the BMS building. Under the design leadership of the LAB at Rockwell, Lucid created real-time interactive simulations that evolve and change over an 18hr arc each day. These simulations are organized into the four seasons of the calendar year and each season has 5 unique variations, each one with an entrance and exit pairing of separate scenes. All of these scenes are reactive to LiDar in the two spaces, and they are inspired by the science taking place in the building. If we add it all up, that's a lot of hours to consider, design for, and meaningfully program and review. We look forward to presenting our process for tackling this challenge on a technical and interpersonal level and discussing the ups and downs of immersive experiential design with you!

What's next for media servers? This panel will foster conversation between media server creators and power users, highlighting cutting-edge and future features.

In the closing session, Mary and Jake sum up lessons learned and discoveries made and provide attendees with a guide on how to learn more - with a focus on technologies to see and people to meet on the LDI show floor the next day.
