Live Design International (LDI) 2024

• Designed to parallel SPRAT’s existing rope access certification program, the work-at-height program establishes a certification with performance-based criteria to ensure a baseline minimum of skills for the use of personal fall protection systems.  RIG will provide the training and host the Evaluation session. Candidates who successfully complete the evaluation will receive a certificate issued by the SPRAT office and valid for 3 years.

The presentation of our 2024 Pat MacKay Diversity In Design Scholarship recipients will be held over on the DSE keynote stage before the LDI show floor opens on Tuesday, December 10, as part of the new format for the LDI Awards Ceremony for best debuting products and best booths.

A light breakfast will be served to kick off your Tuesday morning!

If you have time for a cup of coffee, you can do this brief yoga practice. No special costumes, props, yoga mats, or experience are required. This simple combination of small movements and breathing can be the same as your first cup of coffee every day. Come wearing jeans, a business suit, or a skirt/kilt. It will only take 15 minutes of your day!

 
This session will start with defining troubleshooting both from the general perspective and more specifically how it pertains to the stage. Next, we look at the concept of Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act (OODA Loop) and how this mental exercise can better prepare you to solve problems. We will go into greater detail how to apply the definition and OODA Loop concept into solving problems on the stage. Next, we will get into some tools to help us diagnose our systems. Finally, we will create a problem and talk through how to solve it.

 This session is at the Battle Of The Busk stage on the LDI show floor and open free to all attendees.

This session explores how the concert has been completely been reimagined to become a visual feast of immersive content, 360-degree visual canvases and game-changing tech that merges realities.

Explore the workflow and techniques behind the art of programming for a television variety special. A unique discipline of the programming industry which requires rapid decision making, a multi user environment, and continual refinement; all resulting in a workflow which is not often seen or shared. Hear from Eric Marchwinski (Super Bowl Halftime, Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards), and Tom Young (Eurovision Song Contest, Strictly Come Dancing, MTV Video Music Awards) as they share their experiences and insight programming these shows, and a look into the process from the hot seat.

Most of us are woefully unaware of the myriad of processes in our bodies while we sleep. In this session, we will talk briefly about why we get sleepy and some of the healthful things that occur in the various stages of sleep. This 30-minute session is presented by retired Safety & Training Director of IATSE Local 16, Eddie Raymond.

In an industry structured around “efficiency” and pragmatism, little or no credence is given to the long-lasting damage done to our brains and bodies when we are regularly deprived of proper sleep. In this session, we will look at various afflictions caused by this reality and some strategies to get better sleep. This 30-minute session is presented by retired Safety & Training Director of IATSE Local 16, Eddie Raymond.
