Erica D. Hayes will discuss her journey as a lighting designer, highlighting her work with artists like Fantasia, The Isley Brothers, and Lucky Daye, and her transition to television and film. She will explore adapting lighting design to different settings and her experience with IATSE 728. Attendees will gain insights into the intricacies of transitioning between concert tours and the film industry, and learn about the importance of versatility and innovation in lighting design.

Our canvas is darkness. Light allows the perception of color, textures, and shape of each element that makes up a design. Building a solid creative concept can effectively convey the desired message and capture the attention of the target audience. This talk aims to share knowledge, techniques, and creative processes, allowing you to transform ideas into a visual design.

“Growing The Culture Of Women In Lighting” opens the conversation of how we use our platform, the resources we have been given, how we teach the next generation, and help expand the universe of women in lighting. All women in lighting careers have been fostered, mentored, and given opportunities through the community who have gone before them. This conversation will highlight ways to use our experience to grow and not gatekeep the tools and opportunities to learn within the field of entertainment lighting. A discussion on working connecting to, working with, and fostering younger generations of women lighting designers and artists.
