In this hands-on course you will learn best practices, tips, and tricks for designing and implementing an IP network using NETGEAR AV switches. NETGEAR AV has a revolutionary way to make configuring a switch for audio, video, and control over IP a snap with its certified, profile-based approach using the NETGEAR AV OS™ and free Engage controller software. You’ll see firsthand how to approach network design and make sure you configure it correctly. Taught by Alex Pendleton, a very experienced member of the NETGEAR Pro AV Design Team, you’ll be able to ask questions, try out various scenarios, and ensure you are armed with the knowledge you need to succeed on your next project.

Target audience: Anyone designing and building IP networks

Ethernet for Entertainment Beginner session covers the basics of Ethernet systems, including cables and connections, simple system architectures, and how to use Ethernet to distribute DMX512. Hands on portion will teach students how to terminate RJ45 connectors. System architecture will discuss basics of switches and the differences between copper and fiber optic signals. DMX512 distribution will discuss where to best convert from Ethernet protocols such as sACN or Art-Net to DMX512 to have the most reliable system.A half day in-depth intro to Ethernet for entertainment cabling and network training

Ethernet for Entertainment Advanced session covers network management for Ethernet protocols such as sACN or Art-Net, including switch setup, network design, and discussion of real-world challenges and solutions using Ethernet. Switch setup will cover how entertainment protocols differ from the applications most switches are designed for, and how to configure inexpensive commercial switches for entertainment use. Network design will discuss selecting appropriate network devices for applications that vary from small and simple to large and complex. Discussion of real world challenges is an open discussion where attendees will be able to present issues they have experienced and ask about future plans for Ethernet systems.
