This Dataton Academy focuses on WATCHOUT version 7, released in 2024. The two-day class is appropriate for beginners to the WATCHOUT multi-display show composer system, as well as current users looking to explore new features in WATCHOUT 7.

This WATCHOUT training covers basic and more advanced topics and is designed to give attendees a clear understanding of WATCHOUT – its strengths, key features, applications, and possibilities. In this hands-on class, you will be able to hone previous skills while learning new ones, workflow solutions, and common trouble-shooting practices.

4. Workflow for mapping on 3D models

Target audience: This training session is ideal for lighting designers, lighting operators, lighting technicians, who work in houses of worship, corporate AV, touring and installation markets.

For the very first time, this course will introduce and teach upcoming features in the next major Vista 3 software version – Release 5!

R5 is packed with hundreds of cutting-edge features and enhancements aimed towards significantly improving live show playback, timecode programming and “busking”.
Some new course highlights include:
  • How to send midi notes from Vista to third-party applications.
  • OSC (Open Sound Control) – how to create your own custom OSC / trigger interfaces.
  •  “Time masters” – a new show component that provides “hands on” controls to an infinite range of scenarios with ease and accuracy!
  • “Action Grids” - a game-changing new user interface that unlocks new programming and creative possibilities on stage.
  • How to program a timecode show, automatically recording all external console buttons, such as “flash” and “play”

ChamSys MagicQ Training - Beginner to Intermediate (Day 2 of 2-Day Class)

MagicQ basic training course covers the use of all MagicQ products including our MagicQ consoles and PC Interfaces.

The course covers starting new shows from scratch, layouts, patching, recording and editing cues, cue lists and chases, FX programming.
The course is suitable for all skill levels but suited more to those starting out with MagicQ.
Experienced users can pick up new tips and tricks.

Set up for training is two people per console using ChamSys MagicVis for visualization.

This two-day course is designed for programmers who have little to no experience with grandMA lighting consoles or for people new to lighting programming in general. It covers the basics of views, attribute manipulation, patching, groups, presets, sequences, executors, and phasers. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of programming the grandMA3 software. All attendees are strongly encouraged to complete the free grandMA3 Beginner Pretest first. If you do not score at least 85% on this test, we strongly recommend reviewing the free grandMA3 Prerequisite course before attending a grandMA3 Beginner course. This class assumes some underlying knowledge of the topics covered in the prerequisite course and we will not have time to review all of this basic information.
